The Metal Doughnut Band headlined on this day - the Riverside's opening weekend/party. In fear of their new licence, the venue physically prevented the band from doing their 2nd 'proper' set.
The band were really disappointed and upset about this, as they didn't get to perform their proper set for the audience, thus denying them the full Metal Doughnut Band experience. Also, it took a great deal of effort to load and transport a (long wheelbase) Mercedes van full of metal to Newcastle and back, not to mention the unloading and preperation of the stage.
