"TEENAGERS
as young as 15 have bought tickets for a Liverpool University concert
tonight by a heavy rock [sic] band who perform in the nude.
The
Metal Doughnut Band are appearing at the Sphinx bar, run by the
Students Union, and pro-motional material advertising the group boasts
how they cavort starkers on stage.
A university spokesman said: 'The Guild of Undergraduates has complete autonomy over It's soclal and arts programme.'
The
naked truth about the show came to light when Mrs. Mary McCarthy's
15-year-old son came home with £1 tickets, posters and pro-motional
leaflets.
Mrs. McCarthy, of Suburban Road, Tuebrook said: 'I'm not an old fuddy duddy but I must confess I was shocked'
Students’ Union bursar and permanent secretary Mr. John Parry said no one would be allowed in under 18 years of age.
He added: 'This is not a concert, we are operating under a club licence.'
'We make inquiries into the activities of the bands we book, and while it true this group pertorm with no clothes on, they do put paint on themselves'"

Thanks to John Doughnut who helped me find the Echo article (which also led to the confirming of the date of the gig) by pointing me to a podcast that he'd heard it mentioned on: Chart Music #44: the Top Of The Pops podcast at 13:34 minutes into the show (on the 11th October 2019).
